happy mother's day
last night was the last political rally before the election day tomorrow, and it was the best. unlike the other candidates there were no celebrities because the real celebrity were the people who were there at the rally. there were, what, around a thousand people and they stayed from 3 in the afternoon till the event finished around 10pm. me, well i can't stand the promises that politicians throw around during campaigns, so around 4 i decided to go back to the health center (where i am staying) and surf the net in our very modern computer room... hehehehe... sadly i missed the talk of the mayoralty candidate who apparently is an icon here... he rarely goes out, he rarely talks in public, but when he starts every one is moved to tears... no kidding...
he's a good person, and obviously he is loved here. i can't help but compare him to our mayor in valencia, Mayor Junior Gonzales. here, Dodong Pikdin Limkaichong is so approachable. well he is a bit grumpy but people, no matter who you are, are not afraid of going up to him to get his help, assistance, and even advice. Mayor Gonzales on the other hand, well, he is popular in our place but he is arrogant and after office hours good luck if he would still accomodate your rantings. one time i went to his place to talk to him regarding our partylist. it was a sunday, and since we were supposed to be relatives i went to their house hoping that i'd be accomodated. but lo and behold his wife told me, "it's a sunday. it's family day. and this is not his office. go to his office tomorrow." but with Dodong Pikdin, his house is open 24/7 to everyone who needs his help, and i mean this literally. when he was mayor, he rarely goes to his office except around 4 to make sure that everyone finishes their job and not rush off to their homes when the clock strikes 5. Dodong Pikdin's office is in his home, where everyone (and i mean everyone) eats with his family at their dining table. His house is a public place, everyone comes in and out, and not even the househelps know everyone who goes to their place. Truly a public servant.
Well, election is around the corner... let's see who wins...
happy mother's day... i just greeted my mom, have you?
