    Events

Ok, let me indulge in giving you information on upcoming events this week. I just feel like it.

First is the, yes, you guessed it, the French Movie Club (see pic above) of Alliance Franciase de Cebu. This is a free showing of French movies. A monthly event, they promised. The event will start on November 13, 7p.m., at Alliance Franciase in QC Pavilion.

Now, here's good news for shopaholics and mallrats. Ayala Center Cebu will be holding its monthly sale on November 13 to 15, and they have dubbed this as their Anniversary Sale. If I only know, its their way of enticing gullible shoppers to part with their hard-earned money. Why else would they time it during pay-weekend (usually 15th and 30th of the month for most companies in the Philippines)?

The good thing is, if its a good thing (I'm assuming its not a scam), they will be giving out 400 special edition bags. Yehey, for the ladies!

During this time, they will also be holding the annual Kasalang Filipino fair, which will feature companies that caters to the needs of soon-to-be-married couples. This includes wedding planners, flower boutiques, gown designers, caterers, jewelers, wedding photographer and the likes. I won't be surprised if I'd see booths for a couple of churches in the fair.

By the way, on the 14th, the mall will be having a midnight sale.

Also on the 14th, I intend to go to the Kayaking seminar at Tambuli East Beach Resort. This is sponsored by Sun and Sea Sports Systems, Inc. together with the Lapu-Lapu City Sports and Events Bureau and Tourism Commission.

Participants will go through a series of talks including an intro to kayaking, boat basics, tide and currents, paddling techniques, and safety. This will then be followed by an orientation on the kayak, water paddling practice and self rescue techniques.

A fun race will then follow.

6 p.m. on the same day will be the Lions Bingo Bash. A fund raising event of the University of San Carlos Campus Lions Club. This will be held at the City Sports Club, fronting Ayala Center Cebu. So, after winning, you can dash to the mall for the midnight sale :)

Thanks to my dear friend, Devin, for the two tickets.

On Thursday, the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. will be launching a book on Boljoon and its treasures. I don't know the title of the book though, nor its author. But I'm sure it would be a hit among historians and anthropologists. And I am sure this will have something to do with the recent digs and treasure finds near the church of Boljoon. Or at least a reference to that activity will be made.

The launching will be in Casa Gorordo. More details to follow.

Did I mention its time to start collecting stickers for the annual Starbucks planner dash?

Shangri La Mactan Resort and Spa is celebrating Viva Espana for the whole month of November.

Its a food and wine festival featuring "timeless Spanish Cuisine handed down through generations."

This will be held at the Tides restaurant for lunch buffet (P1,650/person) on Nov. 14, 21 and 28. Dinner buffet would be at P1800, still at Tides.

The Lobby Lounge will have tapas and wines for the whole month.

This event is in cooperation with the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade, the Office of Economy and Commerce of the Embassy of Spain to the Philippines, Foods from Spain, and Wines from Spain. For more information, email mac@shangri-la.com.
