  • First sporting zone in Cebu opens

    Shopping

Claiming to be the first shopping destination in Cebu that caters to all the sporting needs and the active lifestyle of the Cebuanos, Ayala Center Cebu's Active Zone opened last January 9, with both sweat and glamor sweetly mixed into one exciting party.

The party was hosted by former Amazing Race Asia contender Marc Nelson and racer beauty Gaby dela Merced. Cocktails were served featuring healthy finger food like vegetable tempura, fresh greens, fruit salad, pita bread, and noodles. This was then followed by a fashion show courtesy of the Zone's locators.

So, what can be found at the Active Zone?

The 3,000 square meter area will house famous sporting brands like Speedo, Adidas, Nike's flagship store in Cebu, Puma, Juego, and G-Force, Planet Sports, Royal Sporting House..

There are also retail stores catering to those with an active lifestyle: Skechers, Timberland, Wellness Concepts, R.O.X. (Recreation Outdoor Exchange), Stoked Inc., Hip Street, Ecko Unltd., Merrell, , Mizuno, Fila, R Options, Pony, Sanuk, DC, and Zoo York.

And yes, the ever beloved Bo's Coffee will re-open their cozy shop at The Active Zone. Remember, they closed when the one's Ayala Entertainment Plaza was closed for renovation, paving the way to the now super charged hub.

But this is not the end. In an interview with The FREEMAN business reporter, Ehda Dagooc, Cebu Holdings Incorporated's Francis Monera revealed that this year the property will be doing another expansion that will cover the area from the corner of Cebu City Marriott Hotel to the parking area for public utility vehicles. The project is seen to be completed in two years. (For more on the story, follow this link.)

Monera added that their positioning of the mall as a tourist destination has increased its number of foot traffic coming from local tourists especially those from neighboring provinces.
