  • 37,527 new Filipino nurses

    News

Recently, I've been busy visiting my friend who was diagnosed with lupus, which recently affected her whole body. It pains me to see her suffer, so, what I did was send this note to all our friends in the hope of soliciting positive thoughts, words of encouragements, prayers, and most especially, funds that will help her pay for her hospital bills.

Mind you she is confined in one of the Philippines most expensive hospital being a JCI-accredited institution - Chong Hua Hospital of Cebu (Here's my article on that: Link).

Here's the note but a word of warning. I can be melodramatic when it comes to friends, especially if it concerns their welfare. Mind you, even a few months old friend who I rarely see, and who was killed while fighting government troops in the countrysides gave me sleepless nights like hell. She was in her early 20's, a newly-licensed nurse who decided that the only solution to the problem of inequality and injustice in the Philippines is by waging a Maoist revolution in the countrysides.

So, anyway, that's another story. To the note:

    Guys,

I just came from the hospital and what i saw was so distressing. Seeing Fernalyn in such a helpless state just draws the spirit out of me.

Let's help her guys. Right now, all I can give her are prayers, my time, and support. But if you can give more than that, I am sure her family would really appreciate it.

She is currently undergoing several treatments that would cost a lot, including a series of dialysis.

I know that one way or the other Fernalyn has touched your life, just as she did mine. She is such a lovely person, a great friend who can always make us laugh, and a very dedicated confidant. She has devoted part of her life in serving others by ministering to them the Good News. And when I told her that I am now attending Victory Church, she smiled and a tear fell from her eyes.

Guys, lets help our friend. I'll be going back to Chong Hua Hospital tomorrow with a friend from Victory, to at least raise her spirit and give her family hope. It pays for them to know that people are praying for them and with them.

Let's help her guys, in whatever way we can. And if you can assist with her medical needs, so much the better.

    In prayers,

    Ritche

Now, she's doing great. Will write about the experience in another post, because after all this post is about the new nurses in the Philippines.

By the way, my friend was one of the lucky passers. Wow... Truly, a blessing.

Here's a list of all the new nurses in the Philippines: Link (Philstar.com) or Link (prc.gov.ph)

I wonder how we'd be able to accommodate them in our health care system. Yes, we need more nurses, but then again government can't pay all of them, in fact we currently have a surplus of unemployed nurses. Most decided to get jobs as contact center agents, which pays a lot, mind you. But then these new nurses took up nursing because they want to go the the United States of America, hoping that this would help uplift their family's condition. The US is still every Filipino's dream place to be.

Well, may the fates be good to you guys and congratulations for successfully finishing this challenge in your life.

    37,000... wow!

  • My dad was heavily involved in business world once before he decided to retired and enjoyed a quite village life.  I guess go to Business and Commercial Studies because everyone thought it’s the best for me.

  • Some exclusive private and semi private hospitals here in Malaysia, the nurses are from your country.  I befriended with few of them since I’m always in and out from hospital.

  • I am sending my prayers to your friend.

  • @RestlessButterfly - hehehe... so sorry, got so busy visiting my friend in the hospital and updating our other friends on her condition :D hehe

So, still influenced by parents, huh? i guess one way or the other, our parents will always influence our decision because its like our psyche becomes so in tuned with theirs... me, i took up physical therapy because my sis was taking it... and at that time everyone was taking it, with the US hiring so many PT from the Philippines... by the time I finished the PTs in the US were sent back to my country...

So, I'm here stuck doing something that I was not exactly trained to do... luckily experience is still the best teacher... and perseverance does pay :D

  • @tribong_upos - I love my parents especially my dad.  I'll do anything within his limit to make them happy.

I was accepted into a teaching college, but I was kind of disagreement with something, I rejected the offer.  Sometimes I wonder what my life gonna be if I end up as a school teacher.

  • for the kids, you'd be the coolest ever... for your co-teachers well, they'd flock around you for your funny antics and romantic stories...

  • i'm glad your friend is ok.

i've always found it to be admirable how many people there become nurses in order to uplift their family. when one goes through the hospitals here in america, you can literally see them putting their families on their shoulders. god bless them, i say.

  • @RestlessButterfly - im betting on that...

@supsoo - i know... we are praying on it... sadly, they decided to go home, against medical advice...

@PrincessDiyanaAleeya - whoaaa!!! really??? so what can you say about her as an aunt??? ain't i correct? she'd make a good teacher...

  • @lakwacherangpilipina - xanga's giving me the silent treatment *pouts*

@ThePrince - that is so true, unfortunately the US is not taking in as much nurses as the country is producing... even the country can't take in most of the new nurses...

  • What the…!  So she found her away here.  That girl!

  • @tribong_upos - She's kool!  When my birth mother ditched me, Aunty Kay picked me up and take me home with her, i been with her more than a year now.

  • @PrincessDiyanaAleeya - oh im sure of that :D your lucky... and she's just as lucky to have you :D
