Starbuck's featured beverages for February 2010
Food
Starbucks recently introduced its new flavors for the season: Honey Orange Latte, Honey Orange Mocha, and Honey Orange Frappuccino Blended Coffee/Cream.
Of course, I could not really miss this opportunity to be one of those first few people to taste these new concoctions and I was, well, disappointed.
The flavor is not that exciting at all. Yes, the zest does add a kind of exotic flavor to the drink, but, well, the taste is just too familiar. Nothing new, I would say. I am surprised why they haven't thought of this flavor before, or is this but a rehash of an old concoction?
Well, if you really value your coffee kick, then it would be great if you'd go on a Monday as they are offering a free shot of espresso (or syrup of your choice). But this promo is only until the 22nd, so better hurry and take advantage of this great great opportunity.
So, come to think of it, why not try these new flavors of Starbucks with an extra shot of espresso. I think that would deliver the kick.
This orange flavor thingy would be great if the beverage is cold (i.e. the Frap variation). It can be refreshing, I'd say but still I'm a purist, so if not for my desire to try new things, including flavors, I would not have dared try this drink. Well, this would be my last.
Happy to say that they are promoting this new drink with a buy-one take-one promo. Buy one of the featured drink and get another cup of the featured beverage for free. Of course, I had to try the flavors to give you my dear readers a fair review. And as i said, it is really nothing new.
Ever tried those cute Goya chocolate squares? Well, it's basically the same flavor, especially the Honey Orange Mocha. The chocolate flavor of the mocha is, well, I felt like I was kind of cheated. The flavor was so diluted, and except for the tangy orange smell, I really don't find any reason to try this drink again.

Speaking of chocolates, last Friday, friends from Aboitiz Equity Ventures (through our dear friends Ganzo Gonzales and Ethel Natera of VECO) treated us to an afternoon at Magic of Stone Spa. This was a surprise birthday spa party for a dear friend, Malou Mozo.
It was total relaxation. First was Ganbanyuko, which technically is a sauna with some fancy volcanic or coral stones said to excite the ionic charge of the atmosphere. This has a detoxification effect on the body.
After the Ganbanyuko, I had a cool bath followed by a deep muscle massage. It was so relaxing, but somehow after the massage I felt so bruised. I was tired all over.
Over all, the spa has excellent facilities and the staffs are very attentive. It's like being in a fine dining restaurant with your very own waiter, waiting to serve you every minute.
The tiredness must be from the Ginger Tea which I had all throughout.
Anyway, you might be wondering where the chocolate comes in. Well, aside from the scrumptious moist chocolate banana cake that AEV gave to our friend, which tasted so heavenly sinful, each of us were given Royce Chocolates.
Oh my God! This was like the very first time that I tasted Royce, and I heard so much about it. They only have two outlets in the Philippines - one in Greenbelt and another in Poweplant Mall. All are high-end malls in Makati. It's like 2 or more hours away from Cebu by plane then by car. Really a Valentine treat for us all. It came with a Valentines card signed by all our dear friends at AEV. I couldn't thank them enough.
I'd be enjoying every bite of this Royce Almond Bar Chocolate... Really a treat... Oh, its so delicious...
