  • Cool post - haven't heard much about diwali

  • Used to have a lot of fun at Diwalee time. Fire works and all kinds of goodies to eat.

  • I will check this out when I get home tonight!

  • Ok, this was seriously cool!  I have so much to say...so this will be a long one :P   This week after recing a post regarding a cathedral in France, Michal wrote back and said that there is a hill that people will pilgramage to pay respect to the arch angel Michael, much like the Muslims pilgramage to Mecca.  Now this, the candles reminded me of Catholic mass with all the candles, the cleansing of the house is also done by Wiccans, the colors they wear vs. the colorful decorations and multi colored Christmas lights.  Wow...it was pretty awesome to make the comparrisons.  However, out of all the messages that I have studied in the last 17 years, the message of good residing over evil...inspires hope.

    The internet rocks!

  • Sorry, it's been rather busy around the household and between the holidays coming up, physical therapy for both my daughter and I, and a new nephew due to arrive around Christmas/ New Year's...well it's been hectic.  We help prepare the house for the new baby and have done this with each of our children, so it's kinda tradition.  Anyway, I forgot to tell you that we always put a leaf of cabbage in our wallets every New Year's Eve.  Green Cabbage, not the red.  It is for wealth and I have to say it works.  I may have been down to only a dollar in my wallet, but my bills were paid.  My mother swears by this too since she has tried it.  Everyone thought it was crazy at first, but every person who did it, worked for them.  Old wives tales!  Got to love them!

  • Ritchie?  Ritchie?  Quit hiding!

I have to ask, is that you in the facebook picture...with all the girls around???

  • wow... thanks @ItIsAllGravy, @theramblingman, @ZSA_MD and @hesacontradiction for liking this post... :D Diwali is really one of my favorite Indian celebration, next to Raksha Bandhan, Shiv Jayanti and Holi (the last two because I personally experienced it when I was in India)...

Ann, yep thats me when I was still in College hehehe :D love the cabbage story,,, I've got to try that... I hope your physical therapy is going well...

  • are you a muslim? ;p

  • @worstenemy - I'm a Christian, by religion, but I try not to limit myself to the teachings of any one religion. I am more into spirituality and spiritual truth.
