Philippine Blog Awards... Finalist? Seriously?
Waaahhhhh!I'm a finalist for the Lifestyle category of the Visayas leg of the 2011 Philippine Blog Awards! I didn't know that and the awarding ceremony is supposed to be this Saturday, November 12, 2012 at the Senator Jose Locsin Cultural and Civic Center in Silay City, province of Negros Occidental. That's on the other side of the island. (More on the finalists, here).
I don't even know how they'll choose the winner but I'm crossing my fingers. This would be a big win for Xanga in the Philippines if ever I get the recognition. To think that Xanga is not exactly a popular blogging platform in the Philippines.
I am totally honored for having been elected as finalist for the category, and as much as I want to be there during the announcement of the winners, well, I'm not really prepared for the event and I already have plans for the weekend. This is such a bummer.
The awards first started in 2007. In 2009 it started with the regional legs (Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao) of the event instead of having just one big national event. I really don't know the rationale behind this, maybe to give proper recognition to lesser known Visayas and Mindanao bloggers, considering that as with everything in the Philippines, Luzon, particularly Metro Manila, monopolizes blogging popularity mainly because they have more access to mainstream "national" media.
This year, the awards started with the Visayas and will be followed by Mindanao on the 26th, then Luzon on December 3.
UPDATE: The award went to Random Thoughts by Gil Camporazo won the Lifestyle Category of the Philippine Blog Awards. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

The people who listed you might track your recommendations. The one on martial arts was pretty well done and I hope that others in your category are not that good.
I wonder if the amount of comments you have done increases your rating? I consider your response only slightly above average but then again devoting time to the actual blog is the most important part of blogging.

@PPhilip - I honestly don't know... the site seems quite on the criteria for judging...
but I guess that's the difference between xanga and other blogging platforms... xanga is a community that encourages people to participate in the discussions in other xangan's sites...

Congratulations dear Ritchie. You surely deserve the honour. Even if you don't get the award, the fact that you got nominated, is an honour in and of itself. I hope your next post tells us that you were awarded with great success on the 12th.
