  • Celebrating the end to Violence Against Women, take the VOW!

    News

Did you know that today we commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women?

    Apparently we are.

Headed by Gabriela (a women's organization in the Philippines, with an affiliate organization in the US and a political party with two seats in the Philippine Congress) and the International Women's Alliance, the campaign aims raise awareness on the alarming cases of violence against women. (Story, here).

Gabriela initiated this campaign called I Vow to fight VAW (take the pledge, here), which aims to instill awareness on the fight against violence against women and to encourage people to be vigilant against such crimes.

Gabriela USA, have a wonderful project, which takes the vow a step further. They encourage people to send in pictures holding a pledge card so that they can post it on their site.

(The 43 healthcare workers are already released, by the way, but I guess there's still two more being detained by the Philippine military)

So, why don't you take that pledge now? Simply go to either www.gabusa.org or to www.ivowtofightvaw.com.
