Human rights situation in the Philippines, July 2010 to present
Human rights violations in the Philippines remain to be at its worst. According to Karapatan, a national alliance of human rights volunteers and advocates, during the Aquino Administration (from July 1, 2010 to October 31, 2011) there's been 64 cases of extrajudicial killings (1 politically-motivated killing per week), 6,108 victims of demolition of houses, 208 cases of illegal arrests, 51 cases of torture, and 9 cases of enforced disappearance of activists and human rights workers, and so much more.
This does not include the thousands of cases that's yet to be solved, but of which the Philippine government is not serious in finding a solution, mostly because the instigators of the crime are government agents, themselves, or the mastermind, politicians.
Pressure from the international community is not working at all.
It seems that my country is a pseudo-democracy whose political structure is built to serve the interest of rich bureaucrat capitalists. The small trace of justice in my country is nothing more but petty acts of politicians and PR firms who want to convince the international community and my people that somehow my country has a semblance of democracy.
Truth is, democracy is but a dream and people who are vocal about it end up six feet underground.

OK friend. I wish I had a wand that would make everything bad go away, but instead, what I do have is a voice and two legs that I can stand up on. What can I do to help?
Sad
A counter-movement needs to be built at the village/neighbourhood level, from the ground up. Be wary of agents provocateurs-
i.e. the charismatic types, like Gringo Honasan. This type of movement is th eonly thing that can counteract the Landlords' stranglehold on the islands.
It's so sad to know things in your country haven't changed much and it's so sad for me because you know things are very bad in my country too. All we can do is do our best to form and inform the new generations about this things, to spread the word and try to do our best from our own battle fields. I'll pray for you and your country.
that is so sad
@hesacontradiction - you are such a wonderful friend...
all we can do at this time is make noise, send positive vibrations, and hope that things will turn out ok
thank you, Ann
@Arrabella_Lyka - Oh, I'm sorry you got to read this young one...
its not all bad... even bad things remind us of what is good in life
@RighteousBruin - I too believe in the strength in numbers
but one that advocates peace... its hard really to remain peaceful when one is being provoked, needs a lot of self control and self understanding
@xXxlovelylollipop - so true... it makes me sad too, but hopefully, things will change for the better... we just have to keep the stories out
and let the bad people realize that what they are doing is bad... someday, they'll realize that they have a heart
@godfatherofgreenbay - so sad, indeed... but we Filipinos must embrace reality... our problem is that we want to live in dreamland where bad things only happen to bad people...
