  • Video: Prank call?

    Thoughts

Just as the country is recovering from the devastating effects of Tropical Storm Washi, another storm hit the country. A video sort of went viral Friday, with 248 shares on Facebook. The reason?

Well, it was mixed. Some people were amused seeing the video, while others were disgusted claiming that the person who posted the video was a disgrace to the Call Center Industry in the Philippines, of which the country was recently hailed as the industry's capital. (Related post: Call center capital of the world).

Why don't you judge for yourself:

Now, whether the video is a practical joke and the caller an accomplice, that remains to be known.

However, if this was an actual live call, then this agent must face disciplinary action for several reasons, including breach of confidentiality and security for the caller's account. Recording the call, per se, is already a violation that merits legal action against the agent.

A campaign on YouTube was started by esolutions to look for this person and submit him to some disciplinary action.

So far, only 302 responded to the video with comments attacking the person on the video, even to the point of discriminating persons of the third gender, which I find really disturbing. I don't think that he's being gay has anything to do with his actions. If this was real, then it must be because of how he was raised, rather than his gender of choice.

Note to readers: There will always be a bad apple in the bucket, but it doesn't mean that the rest are not sweet and tasty. You just have to pray that you'll pick the right one.

We are still proud of our call center industry and our agents, who, I still believe (I'm biased), to be the best.
