Pesto sauce for Christmas
Since my family will surely be making pork/beef laden pasta sauce for Christmas lunch and dinner (or for noche buena come midnight), I decided to make my own sauce, and my fave at that - pesto.
Here's the stuff I used:
Sweet basil
Cheese and hing (in place of garlic)
Since we have no pine nuts in the Philippines and its very expensive and hard to come by, I used cashew nuts
Olive oilBlended them all up until I have this:
Who says making sauce is complicated. Now all I need is the pasta.

I never had fresh Pesto but that looks pretty good.
hummm.....
sounds good, I actually think the cashews sound better
@TroyEllison - thanks Troy
@hesacontradiction - you should try making them
they're good and herbal
@godfatherofgreenbay - thank you
never tried making it with pine nuts cause I couldn't find one
hehehe
I miss Rez too. Anyway. Cashew is a very good substitute for pine nuts. And hing ??? I bought that stuff once. Asafoetida ("devil's dung") is too pungent for my palate. Just sayin'
Yum! I love pesto sauce (:
@we_deny_everything - hahahaha exactly... just have to use a pinch of it or something... i think it takes getting used to
@nicoleyuenxx - me too
