The most expensive tuna
Last Monday, January 9, Wall Street Journal reported that a Japanese restaurant owner paid US$700,000 for a single tuna.
The reason why the restaurant owner paid this much money for the tuna is because he doesn't want to see this good looking tuna go out of his country. He wants his countrymen to enjoy the tuna. But really? In my currency this is something close to PhP 40,000,000! It could feed a whole village for months! But just for a single tuna?
I just hope that this tuna tastes multimillion... But then it won't take a day to consume this millions, for the millions to disappear to nothingness. Go ahead, have your sashimi worth millions.
Would you pay this much for food?

The Japanese are very passionate about their fish it looks like.
There are so many different types of tuna. Here in California occasionally yellow tail is available. Unfortunately the larger the fish the more mercury may be in the fish/dolphin/whale.
But wild caught salmon and tuna contains more nutrients, so much so you notice an energy perk. The sashimi restaurant do make their money back and there are a lot of happy customers who eat it.
humm crazy.
I believe some kinds of tuna are on the brink of extinction...
Wow. I don't know much about fish, but I do know that I love Tuna steaks!
Nope, wouldn't pay that much for food. I'd have to starve. I don't have that much to pay.
@sometimestheycomebackanyway - they are...
@PPhilip - each serve must cost plenty, considering the investment on this piece of fish... i wonder how much this would fetch per kilo...
@Zissu25 - I heard that too... perhaps this is one of those... reminds me of a movie, The Freshman...
@Xbeautifully_broken_downX - hehehehe me too, don't know much about fish and why it costs so much
@C_L_O_G - well, i would bet that it takes just the same as any tuna
especially when cooked well-done
hehehehe
I don't think I can look at a can of tuna the same again! Good intentions though.
If I had that kind of money, I might. I know, that is not cool of me, but I could easily pay big money for things that are not neccesary, even if that money would feed a village. Actually, each time I buy more than the bare neccesities, I do the same thing.
@hesacontradiction - hehehe that could cost millions
@swallowedthewhale - well, i'm sure that you deserve it, with the hard-earned extra that you have
its a treat for a job well done... i do that too, sometimes
ok, I'll only see what's inside- his intentions.
No way!
@llwindyll - me still can't see the logic
@RestlessButterfly - me curious how it tastes
perhaps it tastes exotic...
@tribong_upos -
Funny you said that, it's exactly what my dad told me.
@tribong_upos - Exotic or not, no way I gonna pay that much for a food.
